In 1998, after nearly 20 years of successful, straight commission sales experience, I had undertaken a new career challenge and was struggling. I was struggling with rejection, put offs, think about its, procrastination and inertia. You see, I had decided to enter into the Financial Services Field selling Life Insurance and Investments, and for the first time in my selling career, I felt I was failing. It seemed the harder I tried, the worse it got. If you redouble your sales efforts without results, it doesn’t take long to become frustrated and angry, then simply run out of gas.
A colleague recommended that I call Jim Dunn at Sandler Sales. I was hesitant, because I really didn’t know if help for my problem was available, or where I’d find the money to pay for this help. I made the call anyway, because I was in ‘pain’.
Today, after several promotions, numerous sales achievement awards, and the financial prosperity I had only hoped to experience, it would be unfair not to give Sandler Presidents Club training much of the credit for my success. Today, I teach the Sandler concepts I’ve learned from Jim to all of our new Financial Professionals as they embark on their own careers, and recommend they join Presidents Club as soon as possible.
With Sandler, it is no longer my responsibility to convince every prospect to say YES, but to inquire and ultimately talk only with the most interested prospects—and to get a well-qualified NO from the others, instead of wasting my precious energy on them.
Sales Professionals are empowered when they are able to ‘rule out’ uninterested prospects instead of suffering the feeling of rejection when there was never a sale to be made in the first place.
I recommend Sandler to anyone interested on earning a multiple of their current income, while reducing the stress involved in selling the old fashioned way. I’ve never met anyone in Presidents Club that wouldn’t agree.
